BARBARA NELSON

Barbara Nelson started her art career at age 18 with a booth at the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach. She went on to earn her masters in art and started teaching part time at Cal State University, Fullerton and community colleges in Orange County. During these years she had an active exhibition career exhibiting in various museums and had gallery affiliations in LA, Houston, San Francisco and Atlanta. Her work at that time consisted of large tapestries and handmade paper. In 1985, Barbara took a full time teaching and department chair position at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. She taught all levels including Advanced Placement Studio and Art History. This lead to working summers for the College Board. In addition to her academic career, Barbara expanded her interests in creating art and spent time exploring a variety of media. She still has a passion for experimentation and mixed media.

Barbara has been a full time resident in Anderson Valley for just over 5 years where her time is spent in her garden and studio as well as giving time to various local non-profits.
