RACHEL LAHN

Rachel began her artistic journey in childhood nurturing her work through many years. Rachels paintings and relief constructions are meant to show movement of color into shapes and light. Each piece of art reflects her life, feelings, travels, and countless transitions. Rachels collection of work primarily consists of abstract relief construction made of mixed media including canvas, plaster, wire, wood and found objects. Then Rachel paints the constructions using acrylic paint. Once started they take on a life of their own, one form inspiring the next. Her work is inspired by her northern California environment of Redwood trees, mountains, oceans, sunlight, and plants.

Rachel Lahn holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching from the Rhode Island School of Design. Lahn’s work can be seen at the Prentice Gallery in Mendocino, The Elk Artists Collective, in Elk California, and her studio, by appointment, in Comptche, California.
