DOUG JOHNSON

I started working in pottery in high school 55 years ago, and it was the one thing I really liked. I moved to the Anderson Valley in 1971 and got a job as a ceramics teacher at Clear Water Ranch in Philo, and I opened Pepperwood Pottery in Navarro in 1974. I have been known for my crystalline glazes for the last 45 years , but also make numbers of different glazes on high fired kitchen ware. I also make wood fired Salt glaze ware. The 4 showrooms are set in a beautiful garden setting with grape arbors and a water fountain with pathways between them . One of the showrooms is made of cement and is totally covered with ceramic art.
